Dr Elizabeth Hall-Findlay needs no introduction to the Australasian plastic surgical community. Her superomedial technique has set a new paradigm in breast reduction surgery and has transformed this operation worldwide. Indeed, her technique now forms the foundation of all modern superomedial breast reduction operations.

We are therefore delighted that Dr Hall-Findlay accepted an invitation from this journal to provide a comprehensive update on her operation and a background to her journey in developing her technique, the innovations and pitfalls along the way, and key points and learnings for the younger plastic surgeon embarking on a career in plastic and reconstructive breast surgery.

We deliberately did not set a word limit on this article, and it is reproduced in full to allow, as best we can, the optimal learning experience.1 Dr Hall-Findlay has kindly also provided a video, available on the AJOPS YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/DZAhXFN8P4g.

We commend this article to you and would like to sincerely thank Betsy for her willingness and her generosity in providing this article and for her support to the plastic surgery community of Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
